Proform vs Nordictrack: Which Brand Is Better and Why?

The most popular gym equipment among fitness enthusiasts are ProForm and  NordicTrack. Of course, if you require reliability with high-end brands, they are the biggest brands around. So you always have to stand between the ProForm vs NordicTrack choices.

Trends of home fitness have been around for decades now, shaping our lives. Especially since the recent epidemic, which forced us indoors. Everyone has learned that health comes first.

When choosing the right kind of equipment for indoor exercises. Factors one should consider are health objectives, place, and of course budget.  But which company’s exercise equipment is right for you?

It can be challenging and irritating at the same time. Remember, spend plenty of bucks on something you are going to use on a daily basis. It is not something to take lightly. Also, this is not your everyday purchase.

Proform vs Nordictrack vs Peloton: Which and Why?

NordicTrack is a widely recognizable fitness brand, founded in 1975. It manufactures treadmills, bikes, and other exercise equipment.  They include elliptical machines, rowing machines, and other indoor health and strength improvement equipment.

NordicTrack was acquired by Icon Health and Fitness in 1998. It also owns ProForm, the leading name in home fitness equipment, founded in 1977.

This makes them sister brands. So it hints at a lot of similarities between them. Even If both brands are owned by the same parent, they are still distinct brands.

Both brands offer interactive platforms as well, like connected fitness through IFit Compatibility. They also include on-demand studio classes through the attached screens to their treadmills and bikes, etc.

Both the NordicTrack and Proform are decades older business buddies. The Peloton brand is relatively new in the game, founded in 2012. However, age certainly has not stopped Peloton from competing with these two, decade’s old senior brands.

Let’s dive right into our main question of Proform vs Nordictrack to take a closer look at which is better and why?

Proform vs Nordictrack vs Peloton: Head to Head Comparison

Choosing a treadmill for the first time might make you feel lost. A larger deck, incline-decline adjustability, and more powerful motor, and built-in apps are key factors. Widescreen, reasonable price, warranty, and customer support are also important things to be considered.

Today what people want specifically in treadmills is the feature of live workouts. There are other features that one might look for like folding models and weight capacity etc. Let’s ease the burden of this choice for you.

Even in terms of stationary bikes, ProForm is always a popular choice if you just consider your budget. ProForm bikes are relatively quiet, have adjustable seats, iFit enabled, and of course relatively affordable.

The only thing that people do not like about ProForm bikes is their limited iFit subscription. Ranging from basic to feature-packed, ProForm offers six stationary Bikes.

Proform studio bike pro 22 Vs Proform Studio Bike Pro

The most expensive and popular among the ProForm bikes is the Proform studio bike pro 22. This is packed with features like a 22-inch screen and 24 resistance levels. You can replace its seat and choose one which keeps your booty comfortable.

Another member of the ProForm family is the eye-catching Proform Studio Bike Pro. Featuring angled handlebars, built-in apps like Google Maps, and iFit Coach, with a 10-inch screen display.

NordicTrack S22i Vs NordicTrack Commercial S15i

NordicTrack offers three series of bikes. First are commercial Studio series, recumbent series, and then upright series.

The most stylish and loved among them is the NordicTrack S22i. It has a Magnetic flywheel that barely whispers. The positioning of its handlebar and pedals makes it personally favorable. But it comes with complicated assembly and higher prices.

NordicTrack Commercial S15i is another symbol of excellence for NordicTrack. With 20% incline and -10% decline capability, maximum viewing experience, and a check on your cardio. It is equipped with one-touch control, ensuring that you never lose the flow.

Proform vs Nordictrack Recumbent bike

Made for people with limited mobility and joint issues, the most beginner-friendly bikes are recumbent bikes. They provide you with posture support during the ride, through horizontally adjustable seats.

ProForm has the best 440 ES recumbent bike, almost having the same specs as other ProForm upright bikes. Just excluding any free iFit membership with purchase.

Known for its high prices, NordicTrack offers NordicTrack Commercial R35 recumbent bike. This comes with a 1-year free subscription. This is the bike for you if you are looking for plenty of features.

Let’s now make their side-by-side comparison to broaden the perspective, in order to make informed decisions.

Rowing-Machine-Comparison-NordicTrack-Rower-vs-ProForm-Rowing-Machine.jpg

1: Proform Rowers

ProForm 750R rower and 440R

Proform rowers come in two models, the 440R and 750R. With a weight capacity of only 250 pounds, they have a space-saving lift-and-fold design. They also provide the access to 24 levels of resistance.

The ProForm 750R rower is “technically” free. However, the catch is the payment for three years of iFiT membership to get it. To match the pace it controls your resistance remotely. Let you see the world while you row, through live streams.

On the contrary, having the 250 lb weight limit and 8 resistance levels, 440R is comparatively basic. It allows you to use the rower handle as a low pulley station. It lets you view your per-minute stats as well.

2: NordicTrack Rowers

Three models offered by NordicTrack, the RW200, for $699 is the most basic one. However, it does not come without plenty of features. Such as higher-end display, 24 digital resistance levels (magnetic), Bluetooth-enabled, and 20 preset fitness apps.

Most importantly, it has a height of 44 and a width of 37 and is easily foldable. It comes with a 1-year iFit membership and free shipping.

Its on-demand workout feature is going to control it for you by controlling the resistance digitally. It comes with a 10 inches tablet and 25 resistance levels.

NordicTrack RW900

With the 22 inches HD touch screen and 26 resistance levels, this is RW900 at $1,599.

Proform vs Nordictrack (Customer Service)

With NordicTrack, there are all kinds of room for improvement in terms of customer service. As NordicTrack’s customer service has a pretty nasty reputation for a response.

Top complaints include taking forever to hear back from them and the frequency of parts arriving damaged. They also have difficulty with arranging deliveries/services. Though their customer service is known to suck, NordicTrack as a brand is still pretty trustworthy.

ProForm’s customer service department also has a pretty bad reputation. People had trouble getting responses from Proform. I think, at the top level, it all boils down to the same upper management, ICON Health & Fitness.

Conclusion

When stuck between the Proform vs NordicTrack choice, you will notice that for runners NordicTrack is prettier. It is a more durable and higher quality brand, but it is Pricier.

ProForm is the first choice for walkers and joggers if they are tight on budget.

Both brands have competed and are still doing.  Both are offering high-quality, reliable, and user-friendly products. However, most of NordicTrack’s selection is for more of a serious kind of fitness enthusiasts if they don’t carefully consider the budget.

But in the end, it is always personal preference and a matter of size, budget, and specific fitness goals.
